There will likely be a dust cover overtop ofwherethe throwoutbearing sitsinsideofthis opening;removeit carefullyso as not totearit (you may needa new one if this happens). Once removed,you should see 3 things: 1) The input shaft coming outofther ear endofthe trans mission;2) The output shaft goingintoand throughthesideofthe trans mission towardsthe front end;And3) In between these two shafts sits yourthrow outbearingon acup-shapeddepressionor “pilot bushing.”

Use your finger or agarbage bag tiewrapped aroundyour handto keepfromgettinggrease everywhere as you reach intothe area and pull offoldthrow outbearing(it should justpull right off – if it’s being stubbornuse something like WD-40to help loosen it up). Cleanup any old grease or debris fromthis area(agood way tedo thisis with brake parts cleaner spray – just make surenot togetanyonanythingthat shouldn’thave brake parts cleaneron it!).
